Government opens public consultation on green growth program

The Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) this Friday (5) the draft of the bill establishing the “National Policy on Climate Change”, the “Interministerial Committee on Climate Change” and “Green Growth” – and set a deadline until December 4th for receive contributions for the improvement of the text.

The measures, called the National Green Growth Plan (PNCV), had already been announced by the Jair Bolsonaro government at the end of October, on the eve of the United Nations Climate Conference (COP-26).

The action will be jointly coordinated between the Ministries of Environment and Economy with the objective of encouraging green projects to promote a reduction in carbon emissions, conservation of forests and rational use of natural resources with job creation and economic growth.

The governance of the program will be under the responsibility of an inter-ministerial committee that will be responsible for planning and executing the measures, in addition to monitoring the results.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the PNCV will be guided by “economic incentives, institutional transformation and criteria for prioritizing public policies and private sector projects and actions”. The program will have national and international resources, public or private, reimbursable and non-reimbursable, impact funds and risk investments in the acceleration of sustainable projects and initiatives.

“The relevance of the matter recommends its wide dissemination, so that everyone can contribute to its improvement”, says the Civil House in the dispatch opening the public consultation on the draft of the PL, which can be accessed in the Official Gazette or Brazil participates more on the site.
