The Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, said, in an interview with CNN this Monday (13), that a new government program will have airline tickets at R$ 200 for retirees, students and civil servants.
The minister’s estimate is to issue 12 million airline tickets annually. The idea is to buy empty seats on aircraft and offer tickets during the months of lower demand.
“The Federal Government does not provide any type of subsidy. He enters with the organization and the banks, Caixa or Banco do Brasil, which will intermediate this possibility”, said the minister.
According to França, the program is expected to start operating in the second half of this year, initially occupying 5% of idleness on flights.
“With this, we will make all tickets cheaper. As you no longer have idleness, the other tickets may also become cheaper, ”she added.
