“Every effort has its rewards”. That is the phrase that perfectly defines the story of a 13-year-old boy and his grandfather, who traveled long distances to attend school and finish their basic studies.

Despite adversity, they never gave up and after thousands of steps, they both achieved their goal. During the delivery of diplomas they could not help it and burst into tears when they saw their effort rewarded with what they longed for so much.

Efraín is a 13-year-old young man from the rural area of ​​Chaco in Argentina, he lives with his younger sister Celeste and his grandfather Ángel Delgado, who has cared for them with great love and patience. His economic situation is precarious, but that has not prevented him from carrying out his studies at School 239 in the rural area Pampa Chica.

Despite his age and physical condition, Don Ángel walks daily with his grandchildren four miles to get to school. In this way they can learn and have a better quality of life.

The most emotional thing about this story is that Efraín has already received his diploma for completing his studies in elementary school. The moment was so important to him and his grandfather that they both burst into tears in front of everyone present, moving more than one heart.

To graduate, Efraín had to walk four miles every day, from home to school. And it was never absent throughout the year. He is an excellent boy.
