Green technology: 15 hi-tech gadgets that are environmentally friendly

From a recent research conducted in Western Europe for Huawei, it emerged that Italians have a deep awareness of sustainability and are in fact the most active in Europe regarding separate collection: 76% of the analyzed sample recycles daily, while in Europe the percentage drops to 55%.

One in four consumers of the research sample (therefore 25%), would like the total removal of plastic from packaging of products by 2025, a percentage that exceeds 29% in Italy.

In our country, 35% of the population would like companies to reach this goal by the end of 2021.

Italian consumers also seem to be much more aware of the need to implement decisive interventions on sustainability in many sectors, including technology.

Furthermore, although they are very aware that among the various materials used for packaging, plastic, glass and cans are among the most recyclable (respectively for 79%, 78% and 75%), there is concern also about the waste of paper.

According to 70% of consumers in Europe (71% in Italy) it is desirable the total elimination of printed instructions and warranty to reduce paper consumption. Regarding electronic waste, 20% of Europeans confess to throwing away their waste rather than recycling or reusing it, the share rises to 28% in Italy.

In Italy I 43% of the population keeps at least one old smartphone; in Europe, even 1% of the population confesses to having over 10 disused phones kept in the drawers of the house.

We all know that many small steps are needed to make a big difference, which is why even in terms of hi-tech purchases, you can – and must – pay attention if you really want to contribute to the preservation of the planet.

But in the face of these data and a collective consciousness increasingly oriented towards green choices, what are hi-tech companies doing? Certainly a lot.

Be through the study of technologies that are increasingly attentive to energy consumption, both with regard to the construction of devices increasingly made with recyclable or recycled materials, and both relative to packaging and instructions, increasingly reduced to a minimum (sometimes even replaced by a QR Code that completely eliminates the instruction booklets) and the result of ethical choices regarding materials.

In the gallery above some of the greenest hi-tech gadgets that are attentive to sustainability (as well as performance).
