Greenland’s prime minister says he’s ready to talk to Donald Trump

Greenland Prime Minister Mute Eggende said today he is ready to talk to US President-elect Donald Trump, who has said he wants to put the island under Washington’s control. At the same time, Egende demanded that the independence aspirations of his country be respected. Trump, who will take office on January 20, recently said it is an “absolute necessity” to put Greenland, that semi-autonomous Danish territory, under US control. He did not even rule out the possibility of resorting to military or economic means, such as imposing tariffs on Denmark, to achieve his goal.
