Grey’s Anatomy: Ellen Pompeo Returns (and With Some New Features)

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy they knew that, when it was time to say goodbye, Ellen Pompeo would never really leave the series that gave her success, and so it was. After her leave in 2022 to be able to dedicate herself to other projects, Pompeo, that is Meredith Greyhas gradually decided to limit his presence in the series appearing in just eight episodes of the nineteenth season and as narrator in the twentieth. Now that Grey’s Anatomy is about to inaugurate its twenty-first year of life it seems certain, however, that Ellen Pompeo will not only return, but will also appear in a significant number of episodes. According to DeadlineEllen Pompeo will, in fact, be present in at least seven of the eighteen episodes planned for the season, although the number seems destined to grow and could also change based on the workload assigned to the other veteran actors of the series.

Like the very loyal spectators of Grey’s Anatomy they know, Meredith Grey’s character left Seattle to move to Boston along with her family halfway through season 19. After her farewell episode, however, Pompeo returned for the season finale and four episodes of the next one. In the meantime, however, she remained an executive producer and narrator of every episode, commitments that she will continue to carry forward into the next season which, it is now certain, will bring with it several new features. Not least of which is the resolution of the crossroads that Meredith is called to, considering that she has challenged the head of the Catherine Fox Foundation (Debbie Allen) refusing to give up his Alzheimer’s research and to deliver his notes to Koracick.

His voice is constantly in my head,” said the showrunner of Grey’s Anatomy Meg Marinis to Deadline last March, effectively explaining that a Grey’s Anatomy completely without Meredith Grey would be a bit like a chocolate without its filling. Pompeo is currently finishing filming Natalia, the Hulu miniseries in which she stars and executive produces, which is why it seems that her involvement in Grey’s Anatomy 21 It will be more massive, considering that production will restart when the film is finished, but How much longer can the series go on before it realizes that it has little or nothing new to tell? We’ll find out soon enough.
