In operation since 2010, the Spanish candy brand Papabubble ended its activities after 12 years to make room for a novelty: the Gumi Lab .
Still in charge is the architect and businesswoman Mari Charf, who after spending time in Spain, Holland and Japan – where he improved the production process and with more than a decade of experience making hard candies in the “rock” style, dedicated himself to the creation of his new brand, with Brazilian roots and with more copyright freedom .
“I missed the freedom to create my own recipes and flavors that are part of our life and our references, like the nostalgic banana candy, for example”, she explains.
Recently opened, the store has in its portfolio rock-style hard candies with fruit flavor and supercolors, with different designs that can be customized, but now with more freedom for new creations.
The space, despite being completely reformulated, maintains the air of a laboratory where the public can watch the curious and mesmerizing process of making products, with the “stretch and pull”, the addition of colors, the throwing of the dough, the agile cutting of all balinhas under the command of “candy makers”, between others.
The production is entirely made of handmade way without the use of machines and preservatives.
For Gumi’s debut, Mari prepared some novelties such as the brigadier bullet “pull-pull” , paçoca toffee and candied banana candy, a Brazilian classic. The idea is to add seasonal flavors to the menu and also cater to requests made by the public.
The current portfolio includes rock, pillow, azedinha, mole, gumis, toffee, flower, coconut, lollipop and diet candies. The brand continues to serve the public with prompt delivery and customized orders – both in terms of formats, colors, designs and flavors. Prices start at R$20 for a 20g tube, but can be purchased in bulk from 1kg for R$200.
