Hamas accepts the terms of the draft agreement for a ceasefire and the release of hostages

Hamas has agreed to a proposed cease-fire deal in Gaza and the release of hostages, according to two officials involved in the negotiations, the Associated Press reported. According to the report, an Israeli official noted that while progress has been made, final details are still being discussed. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the draft agreement, which was certified by both an Egyptian and a Hamas official. Qatar, a key mediator in the talks, described the current situation as the “closest” the parties have come to an agreement. “We have handed over drafts of the ceasefire agreement to both sides and talks are now underway on the final details,” Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman said on Tuesday. “We have overcome the big differences. This is the closest we have come to an agreement in recent months,” the statement said.
