Harry and Meghan no longer want to use social media: “Too much hate”

Harry e Meghan Markle say goodbye to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The two, who had amassed more than 10 million followers on their official Instagram account, would remain disappointed by the “hatred received on the Net”. According to Sunday Times, in fact, the Sussexes – who stepped down as senior royals last year – have no plans to use social media for their new charity, Archewell, and is very unlikely they will decide to return to Instagram in a personal capacity.

Harry and Meghan’s most important social account was @sussexroyal on Instagram, which hasn’t posted any new content since March 2020. The Sussexes have agreed not to use the word anymore «royal», at the invitation of the queen, since they began to define their new, more financially independent roles in the United States. They would have had to change their social nickname, in order to keep the profile and the many followers.

But now they have a new program. Podcst host of Teenager Therapy, last October, Meghan announced that she was “the most trolled person in the world in 2019”, adding: “And at that time I was also on maternity leave, away from the spotlight. But what has been released is almost unbearable, it’s so heavy that you can’t help but think about how it feels. Because, I don’t care if you’re 15 or 25, if people say things about you that aren’t true the consequences on your mental and emotional health are harmful ».

Archewell it currently does not have an official presence on social media. And it is likely that – at least for a while – it will continue to be so. To promote their foundation’s new projects, Harry and Meghan will rely on something else. But not social.
