Head of the Wagner organization: In 2024 I will run for president of Ukraine

The city of martyrdom has emerged as the mother of battles Bahamut, with the Russians still launching heavy attacks and the Ukrainians maintaining their strong defence. The head of the Wagner paramilitary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, even announced on Saturday that his fighters had gained significant ground in the city of atrocities, posting a video on his Telegram account in which he said he was about 1.2 kilometers away from the administrative center of the region.

“It is a five-story building where the smoke is coming from – the city administration building, the administrative center of the city. It is one kilometer and 200 meters away,” Prigozhin said in the video, pointing in that direction.

Escalating the incendiary rhetoric and in an ironic mood, he declared:I made the decision in 2024 to run for president – president of Ukraine. I will compete for this position with Poroshenko and Zelensky. If I win, then everything will be fine. No shells will be needed».

A few days ago, Prigozhin had stated that Ukraine was preparing a counterattack near Bakhmut. “Yes, it is known that the enemy is preparing a counterattack. Of course, we do everything we can to prevent this“, he had noted on social media.

Wagner has since last summer been actively involved in the war in Ukraine, recruiting convicts from prisons and penal colonies throughout Russia, often with the promise of erasing sentences for those who complete six months at the front.

However, the losses of these units, which have rudimentary military training, are enormous. This is also happening in the battles in Bahamut that have been raging for weeks.
