Health authorizes states and municipalities to use Coronavac stock for children

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Cruz, spoke at a press conference, this Friday (21), that states and municipalities are authorized to immunize children with the lots of Coronavac vaccine they have in stock.

He informs that a previous survey showed that Brazilian states have approximately three million doses of the vaccine. And he added that they should be used immediately in this audience.

The secretary of the folder says that there are already conversations with state secretariats to understand the stock of the immunizer and program the distributions of the federal government. “Monday (24) is the deadline for states and municipalities to send this information to the ministry.”

Cruz informs that the folder has about six million doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 that are already being distributed according to the needs of each state.

Vaccination recommendations

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) authorized the use of the Coronavac vaccine against Covid-19 in children and adolescents from 6 to 17 years of age in Brazil, on Wednesday, 20th, with restriction of application in immunosuppressed patients of this age group. age.

Cruz said the dose is the same as for adults. “Exactly the same vaccine that is applied to adults can be applied to this age group from 6 to 17 years. The interval adopted between the first and second dose is 28 days.”

The secretary also says that Anvisa’s recommendation is that the doses cannot and should not be applied to children and adolescents in this age group who are immunocompromised.

“What are some additional recommendations that the regulatory agency brings to the application of these vaccines in this age group, it is important that there is training of application teams to avoid vaccination errors”, he explains.
