Heat wave should only lose strength next week, says meteorologist

Climatempo meteorologist Guilherme Alves said this Monday (12) to CNN that the heat wave in Brazil continues to keep temperatures high at least until November 19th.

Alves explained that the heat wave is formed by a mass of hot air that stabilizes across the central part of Brazil and raises temperatures in the country.

“This high pressure, which is placed at medium levels of the atmosphere, causes the air to descend towards the surface, inhibits the formation of clouds and causes extremely high temperatures,” he said.

According to him, we should continue to see record temperatures in several regions, especially in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and northwest of São Paulo.

Inmet issues warning of great danger due to the new heat wave

On Sunday (12), São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro recorded the hottest day of the year. In the capital of Rio de Janeiro, the thermal sensation reached 50.5°C .
