Hellenic Cables becomes the exclusive inter-array cable supplier for Dogger Bank

Cenergy Holdings announced today that Hellenic Cables, its cable industry, has taken over the contract for the supply of inter-array cables for the Dogger Bank C project from DEME Offshore, the renewable energy company of the DEME Group.

Already the main cable supplier for Dogger Bank A and B projects, with this contract Hellenic Cables becomes the only cable inter-array supplier for the largest offshore wind farm in the world.

The Dogger Bank wind farm, located more than 130 km off the northeast British coast, is being developed in three phases – Dogger Bank A, B and C – and each phase will have an installed capacity of up to 1.2 GW. Combined, the 3.6 GW project will be able to power up to 6 million households, making a substantial contribution to the UK and Europe zero carbon balance.

The Dogger Bank C project is a joint venture between SSE Renewables and Equinor, while Dogger Bank A and B are owned by SSE Renewables, Equinor and Eni. SSE Renewables is leading the construction and delivery of all three phases of Dogger Bank wind farm, while Equinor will be the operator of Dogger Bank Wind Farm after its completion.

Under the new contract, Hellenic Cables will design, build, test and supply approximately 240 km of 66 kV inter-array cables with XLPE insulation and all related components. This is a project in addition to the 650 km of inter-array cables that the company has already undertaken for the A & B phases of the same project. The cables will be produced at the Hellenic Cables vertical, state-of-the-art submarine cable factory in Corinth. The production of the cables for Dogger Bank C is scheduled to start in 2023 and the delivery will be done gradually according to the project execution schedule.

“We are proud to be the sole supplier of cable inter-array for the world’s largest offshore wind farm, which will be the largest single source of renewable energy in the UK. The Dogger Bank C project strengthens Hellenic Cables’ catalytic contribution to transition to clean energy “, commented Mr. Alexis Alexiou, CEO of Cenergy Holdings.

“In recent years, DEME Offshore and Hellenic Cables have been successfully delivering large-scale cable projects together. We look forward to working together again and leveraging our shared know-how to deliver this great project,” said Bart De Poorter. General Manager of DEME Offshore.
