Hezbollah warned on Thursday against (23) any delays, requiring total compliance with the ceasefire agreement, as the 60-day deadline for Israel to withdraw from Lebanon’s territory approaching the end.
In a statement, the armed group emphasized that the withdrawal must be completed without exception.
In response to reports that Israel may try to extend its presence in Lebanon, Hezbollah has also asked Lebanese government to pressure the agreement to ensure that the deadline is met.
He requested rigorous monitoring of the final phase of the withdrawal, the total implantation of the Lebanese army and the rapid return of displaced residents.
The group also warned against allowing any pretexts to extend the occupation.
Hezbollah warned that losing the deadline would constitute a clear violation of the agreement and an infringement of Lebanese sovereignty, and such a movement would signal a new phase of occupation that requires a firm response from the Lebanese state using all measures allowed by international law.
In addition, on Thursday, the Israeli army reported that its forces destroyed various deposits and shelters of weapons and ammunition of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
According to Israel’s forces, rocket launchers, explosives and firearms were discovered in a village in southern Lebanon, from which the army claimed that Hezbollah had released hundreds of rockets and missiles into Israeli territory before that.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, which came into force on November 27 last year, aimed to interrupt hostilities between both sides. By the agreement, Hezbollah and all other armed groups in Lebanon should cease any attacks on Israel, while Israel agreed to interrupt military attacks on Lebanese territory. The agreement also stipulated a gradual withdrawal from the southern Israeli forces of Lebanon in 60 days, with the Lebanese army and security forces assuming responsibility for the region.
