Hiroshima Bomb survivor Takashi Morita died at the age of 100 on Tuesday afternoon (13), in São Paulo.
In a note of condolence, the State Technical School (Etec) of Santo Amaro, which bears the name of the former soldier of the Japanese Imperial Guard as a form of tribute, lamented the death.
“His life testimony was a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and a tireless call for peace,” he said.
Living in the city of São Paulo since the 1950s, Morita arrived in the capital in 1956, with his wife and two children.
Years earlier, on August 6, 1945, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Japan, in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, at the end of World War II.
About 70,000 people died instantly at the time of the bombing.
A second bomb fell three days later on Nagasaki and killed 40,000 more. The US remains the only country to have used a atomic bomb in the war.
The event marked the end of World War II, leaving a devastating chapter in world history.
