The horrific case of a mother who burned her 8-year-old son alive because he “testified” to his father that she was cheating on him, revived today at Russia as the court handed down her sentence.
Anastasia Baulina, 32, a cashier from the Kursk region near the border with Ukraine, admitted to throwing petrol at her son Andrei before set on fire throwing him a match. The court sentenced her to 15 years in prison for her heinous crime.
Bowlina had tried to convince the court that she simply wanted to punish Andrei and not kill him, saying she quickly extinguished the flames using snow.
The judges rejected her allegations after her 12-year-old daughter Natalia recounted how it was father Pavel, 35, who put out the fire.

12-year-old Natalia told the court that Baulina forced her to watch as she was throwing fuel at Andrei, while she cynically told her “let’s see how the scarecrow burns”.
In a police shot, using a plastic doll, Bowlina showed how she poured gasoline on her child’s head. It is said that Andrei ran screaming in the garden and fell on his hands and knees before claiming to have covered him with snow.

The woman was convicted of murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
