A series of recent hotspots of tension have attracted the attention of world leaders and caused concern in the international community. Russia’s war in Ukraine is one of them. The conflict is about to complete six months and, in addition to the lack of prospects of an end to the military offensive, fears that the fighting could cause a nuclear accident have grown after bombings in the region of the Zaporizhzhia plant.
The escalation of tension between China and the United States is another source of instability in international relations. A series of military exercises by both sides signal the rifts between the two countries, after the Chinese reaction to recent nods by US officials to Taiwan.
The consequences of a year of the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan and the need for global coordination to contain climate change are also topics that have the world on alert.
To draw a balance of how these issues are related, this episode of E Tem Mais has the participation of the analyst of CNN Lourival Sant’Anna.
