HTC launches smartphone with NFT support and Metaverse

Taiwanese smartphone developer HTC is releasing a new “cryptophone” with support for non-fungible tokens and the metaverse following the release of a cryptocurrency mining smartphone.

HTC introduced the new HTC Desire 22 Pro phone with support for the Viverse metaverse, as well as cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFT). The smartphone will come pre-installed with apps that will allow users to interact with the metaverse, as well as allow you to buy NFTs and create your own virtual space.

Like previous HTC “cryptophones”, the new smartphone will come with a built-in wallet for crypto assets based on Ethereum and Polygon. According to the developers, the device is optimized to work with the lightweight HTC Vive Flow VR headset with HDCP 2.2 connectivity, which allows you to transfer the image wirelessly to the virtual reality headset.

Recall that earlier the company released the world’s first mining smartphone HTC Exodus 1S, with which users could mine the Monero cryptocurrency through the DeMiner application. The project was mostly experimental, because, according to the developers themselves, users could mine as little as $1 per year.

However, HTC does not seem to be resting on its laurels and is positioning the new device as a “powerful mid-range smartphone” that will not compete with Apple or Android. Among other things, the smartphone is equipped with a 6.6-inch Gorilla Glass display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as well as 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

At the end of last year, the Chinese company Honor released the first smartphone based on a Snapdragon chip that supports a wallet for the digital yuan, China’s state cryptocurrency, which is now being tested by the government.
