Analytical agency Strategy Analytics has published a report on global mobile phone shipments for the first quarter of 2021.
Data shows that 340 million smartphones were shipped worldwide during the quarter, up 24% from the same period last year. Thus, a new record has been set since 2015.
In terms of manufacturers, Samsung ranked first with 77 million units shipped with a 23% market share and 32% annual growth. Apple and Xiaomi came in second and third with shipments of 57 million units and 49 million units, respectively. They occupied 17% and 15% of the global smartphone market, improving their results compared to the same period last year by 44% and 80%, respectively.
The fourth and fifth places are occupied by Oppo (excluding Realme and OnePlus) and Vivo, which each took 11% of the market, improving their last year’s results by 68% and 85%, respectively. The shipments of their smartphones amounted to 23 and 20 million units, respectively.
Unfortunately, Huawei dropped out of the top five and ended up on the “Others” list. In the first quarter, Huawei shipped less than 20 million mobile phones.
