Three Immigrants killed and a total of 11 people were injured when a truck crashed into another vehicle and caught fire on Friday (5/8) in the south Hungarythe police announced.
The vancarrying 15 migrants, crashed into another vehicle after maneuvering to avoid a police checkpoint and caught fire near the village of Botsa, 122 km south of Budapest, according to a Hungarian police statement posted online.
Two of the migrants in the van were killed on the spot and the third succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Eleven people are hospitalized.
The driver, a Georgian national, was arrested. According to the police, he is allegedly a member of a human trafficking ring.
Some 157,000 migrants have arrived at the Hungarian border since the beginning of 2022, an increase compared to 2021, according to an adviser to President Viktor Orban.
