Public company Hut 8 has introduced a new generation miner, U3S21EXPH, developed jointly with Bitmain.
Today, Hut 8 is launching a next-generation ASIC miner developed in partnership with @BITMAINtech. The U3S21EXPH will be the first ASIC miner mass-commercialized by BITMAIN to feature direct liquid-to-chip (DLC) cooling within a U form factor.

The key feature of the device is direct liquid-to-chip (DLC) technology, used in data centers for high-performance computing.
Hut 8’s website states that the U3S21EXPH is capable of achieving a hashrate of 860 TH/s with a power efficiency of 13 joules per terahash.
The agreement envisages the deployment of a new center with a total capacity of 15 EH/s in the second quarter of 2025 “with potential transition to independent mining through a purchase option.” The parties will also work on the integration of AI infrastructure.
The commissioning of new capacities should increase the available hashrate of Hut 8 from the current 18.5 EH/s to 33.5 EH/s.
After the block reward was halved as a result of the April halving, the profitability of mining the first cryptocurrency has dropped significantly, as evidenced by the chart below.
Hut 8 intends to increase its available capacity to 1.3 GW, including through the purchase of electricity for the Texas site.
