More and more shops, airplanes and now even schools that prohibit providing a service to women because of their type of clothing. Unfortunately, some hide behind the fact that they are too provocative and that they can “offend others”.
Recently, at a school in Barranquilla, Colombia, one of these controversial moments was experienced, as a mother was denied access to a school solely because of the way she was dressed. The directors of the institution judged her clothing as inappropriate and she did not hesitate to denounce the discriminatory treatment.
They denied him access because of his clothing
Isabel Castro was summoned to her son’s school for a meeting in which topics such as the safety and health protocols that were to be taken for the return to face-to-face classes would be discussed. Without hesitation, she showed up at the institution ready to cooperate with everything.
When one of the delegates from the Council of Parents and Representatives saw her arriving at one of the classrooms, she forbade her entry, pointing out that there was a problem with her clothing. Isabel was outraged and could only reply:
I told her that my clothes had nothing, but she insisted that she could not enter the institution like that. I left the house and when I looked in the mirror, I felt that I was well dressed. I was wearing a jean and a slightly low-cut white blouse, but I never felt vulgar, at no time have I disrespected anyone.

The discussion between the two women was recorded by Isabel’s husband, as he was accompanying her to also find out about the changes they would make at school to take care of their son. In the video you can hear that the delegate told Isabel:
You can’t come like that, everyone comes to the institution, you can’t come like that. The coexistence manual, read it.
Meanwhile, Isabel and her husband claimed that they were being discriminated against:
My son is 5 years old in the institution, whenever I have gone to meetings I am dressed like this and a situation like this has never happened to me.
The school asked him for an apology
When the situation got intense, one of the school teachers came over to apologize and, finally, he was able to enter the meeting.
Her reaction was very strong. I felt discriminated against because one does not have to point out, judge or criticize a person. I felt well dressed.
There was nothing wrong with Isabel’s clothing, but society still does not understand that a woman should not be singled out for her choice of clothing.
