In an interview with CNN This Friday (5th), Derico Sciotti, 56, saxophonist in the sextet, a band on Jô Soares’ program, said he “lost another father”.
“I’m going through the part of my second father. I buried my father 10 years ago, and now I’m going through it again, my other father died,” he laments.
Sciotti remembers the moments he spent with the presenter, “in a trajectory of almost half of my life, 28 years old”.
“We had a relationship of complicity there, in the air. Jô has always been very generous to me,” she said.
The writer and comedian died in the early hours of this Friday (5), at the age of 84. He was hospitalized at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, according to his advice.
Sciotti recalls that the most striking moment with the comedian was when Jô Soares’ son died.
“The thing that marked me the most in my life was the day his son Rafa died, and he [Jô Soares] went to record the program. He went there, stood propped up at that table of his, looking out at an audience of 300, and gave a speech about his life with his son. That text was a commotion,” he said.
The saxophonist said he will remember his friend with joy and said that Jô Soares “was a distinguished person in Brazilian culture”.
The cause of death will not be disclosed at the request of the family, who requested discretion, at the request of Jô himself.
