“I am feeling very happy”. Anitta is ecstatic with the unveiling of her wax statue at the famous Madame Tussauds in New York this Thursday (2). In an interview at the inauguration of the statue, the Brazilian artist spoke about the importance of being represented in the place. The work in honor of the Brazilian is in the music room next to statues of iconic names in world music such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Michael Jackson.
“I feel important, I feel really making history. We only have five Brazilians in this museum. Pele, Neymar, Gisele Budchen, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. The three super top Brazilian models. I am the first singer. The first person from Brazilian music to be here and for me it really means a lot”, said Anitta to CNN .
Earlier, the singer recalled in a post on her official Twitter profile that the day would be “special for Brazilian music”.
Today is a special day for Brazilian music (at least from my point of view 😬)

“I always wanted, I spoke here in English, my will when I decided to be a singer. I always told my mother that I was going to be famous and known and I don’t know what, but after I started singing I wanted a purpose to change the world”, said the funkeira to the CNN .
At an event at the museum’s New York branch, in the famous Times Square, the Brazilian pop star officially opened the work. The wax Anitta took about six months and required the work of 20 artists to complete.
The statue of Anitta wears a costume donated by the singer to the museum, with the pants and panties on display used in her performance at Rock in Rio, in 2019.
In addition, the statue has a white crop top written “Girl from Rio” – the same used in some scenes of the video for “Girl From Rio”, released in April 2021.
In 2022, Anitta debuted at Coachella, California, and her look was made with the colors of the Brazilian flag. She took to the stage the scenario of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and her performance was even compared to the iconic Beyoncé, in 2018.
“I want to change the country, I want to change people’s lives and then when I see this I feel like it’s really not just that you have a statue here in the museum. It’s just that here are only people who have marked history in some way and for me this is great and I think that as a Brazilian, Brazilians love to come here, my friends have already come, they love to come to the Madame Tusseuds museum. There you see a Brazilian. It gives that feeling of that patriotism, that Brazil thing. I am very happy to be this walking flag. I’m in love,” said the artist.
