“I’m Still Here” becomes the 2nd highest-grossing national film post-pandemic

The film “I’m Still Here ” became the second highest grossing among national productions in Brazilian cinemas post-pandemic . On Thursday (28), the work surpassed the two million viewers .

Starring Fernanda Torres, “I’m Still Here” surpassed “Os Farofeiros 2”, which attracted 1.9 million viewers . The film now occupies second place, behind only “My Sister and Me”, which was called 2.3 million of Brazilians to movie theaters.

It is worth noting that “I’m Still Here” reached two million viewers in less than a month since its premiere, which took place on November 7th. The Brazilian production even surpassed the film “Wicked” and became the most watched film of the last week in Brazil.

According to the most recent data from Comscorethe production raised R$8.9 million and attracted more than 390 thousand spectators to cinemas.

In the period between November 21st and 24th, “I’m Still Here” surpassed 1.7 million viewers becoming the film directed by Walter Salles with the largest audience in Brazilian cinemas . The previous title belonged to “Central do Brasil“, which brought together 1.6 million spectators between 1998 and 1999, including its initial launch and subsequent relaunches.

“I’m Still Here” is an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, known for the book “Feliz Ano Velho” — a great sales success in the 1980s. The story takes place in the 1970s, in the most intense period of the military dictatorship in Brazil, and follows the trajectory of the Paiva family, made up of Rubens (played by Selton Mello), Eunice (played by Fernanda Torres) and their children.

The family’s life is completely transformed when, on one fateful day, Rubens Paiva is taken by undercover soldiers and disappears without leaving a trace .
