The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank said on Tuesday that they would hold the 2022 annual meetings in person in October, marking the first major meeting to return to pre-pandemic conditions since October 2019.
The two institutions said in a joint statement that they would hold meetings from October 10-16 at their neighboring Washington headquarters, but would monitor health conditions and could adjust their plans if necessary.
The IMF and World Bank annual and spring meetings were held in a largely virtual format in 2020, and in 2021 switched to a hybrid format, with country delegations meeting in person but media and public policy events held virtually .
Before the pandemic, meetings typically drew more than 10,000 people to a cluster of office buildings near the White House.
