In a meeting with Temer, Alckmin tries to clear up unease about labor reform

After statements by ex-president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva against the labor reform caused discomfort, ex-governor of São Paulo Geraldo Alckmin met last Friday (24) with ex-president Michel Temer.

The meeting, according to the CNNwas promoted in São Paulo and articulated by former federal deputy Gabriel Chalita, who is close to both Alckmin and Temer.

According to reports made to CNNAlckmin clarified to Temer that the idea is not to revoke the proposal, created during the former president’s administration, but to revise it, with the participation of different segments of society.

At the meeting, Temer defended his legacy at the Planalto Palace, such as labor reform and the spending cap, and said that the measures are important to generate economic growth.

In the set of guidelines, presented last week, the PT defended the proposal of new labor legislation that would revoke what it called “regressive milestones”.

The meeting between Alckmin and Temer was the first nod of the PT campaign towards the former president.

If Senator Simone Tebet (MDB-MS) does not pass to the second round, Lula wants to form a broad front against President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), including the presence of the MDB.

Possible support from the MDB, however, was not addressed in the conversation, which served more as an opening for Lula’s dialogue with Temer.

According to reports made to CNN Brasil, Alckmin defended Lula and said that he is a dialogue politician, which Temer agreed with.
