In less than a week, two city council candidates and a mayoral candidate suffered attacks in the state of São Paulo, which it is not known whether they were politically motivated.
The journalist and candidate for Mayor of Guarujá, Thais Margarido was shot at when leaving the Santa Cruz dos Navegantes neighborhood, shortly after an electoral march, last Sunday (22).
At the time of the incident, Thaís was accompanied by her advisor and two children, her daughter, aged 8, and the daughter of councilor candidate Nildo Fernandes, who is 10 years old.
The vehicle used in the candidate’s campaign was shot at five times in a wooded area on the Santa Cruz road. Despite the shots, no one was injured.
Luis Lampiao
The candidate for councilor of Santo André for União Brasil, Luis Antônio de Jesus Barbosa, known as Luis Lampião, was found dead and tied up inside a car in Diadema, in Greater São Paulo, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (24).
According to the Police Report obtained by CNN Luis’s family reported that he had been missing since last Sunday (22).
When they tracked down the vehicle he had rented, they found the candidate’s body in the back seat, wrapped in a blanket and showing initial signs of decomposition.
The family called the police, who upon arriving at the scene removed the body and found the victim’s hands and neck tied with a rope.
Leandro Hernandez Felipe
Another attack that occurred this week was against the candidate for city councilor of Mauá (SP) Leandro Hernandez Felipe, also from the União Brasil party. He was shot in Parque São Vicente, in the municipality where he is running for election, on the night of last Tuesday (24).
During the attempted murder, Leandro was in front of his office when a motorcyclist passed by and fired a shot at him, which did not hurt him. He was injured when he tried to take cover from the shot, and was taken to the Emergency Room.
