The utilization of the old Xenia Artas hotel was included in the NSRF with an eligible public expenditure of almost 12 million euros.
In the decision signed by the special secretary for ERDF Program Management and TC of the Ministry of Development and Investments, George Zervos, it is stated that the operation “Utilization of the Xenia Arta cultural building and upgrade of the surrounding area of the Castle” was included in the Operational Program “Transport Infrastructures, Environment and Sustainable Development 2014-2020” and in the Priority Axis “CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT – PROMOTION OF THE EFFICIENT USE OF RESOURCES (TS)”.
The proposal of the Municipality of Artaia concerns the utilization of the old Hotel Xenia Arta as a model-innovative center of culture with the use of a municipal library, art and technology workshops, a municipal conservatory and a multi-purpose hall and a cafeteria-restaurant as it operated in the old hotel. The project will include the energy upgrade of the building using smart energy management systems. At the same time, archaeological investigations and works for the upgrade of the Xenia building, waste management with modern technological systems, supply of the necessary equipment to make the Xenia building functional, shaping of the building’s environment and upgrading of the plantings around the Castle are planned. The works outside the property will be carried out under a program contract with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Artas – Ministry of Culture.
The start date of the operation is set as August 1, 2022 and the end date is December 31, 2023.
The public expenditure of the act proposed for registration in the Public Investment Program amounts to 11,880,000 euros.
