The guest of the eighth episode of CNN In Profit podcast, CNN Brasil Soft project, is the model Carol Trentini. With a 20-year career and starring in campaigns for brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Victoria’s Secrets, Carol is now also an entrepreneur – owner of a newly launched children’s clothing brand.
In the conversation led by Leandro Munhós, the model told how she deals with money and investments. “I am extremely conservative, always have been. That’s my profile, I’m not a person who takes a lot of risks,” she revealed.
From model to businesswoman
A career on the catwalk was not left aside, but now Carol selects her work better and shares her time with her children’s clothing brand, Benbini. The model said that the idea came about in 2018 with a need she felt: to find comfortable and minimalist clothes for her children.
“Benbibi was born out of a personal need for me and my children. When my second child was born, I started to have a hard time finding nice clothes for them,” she said.
Over the last 4 years, Carol says she studied the market and the project matured until she launched the brand, in April 2022: “It is very gratifying to see the idea leave your head on paper and from paper to reality”, said.
WhatsApp scam
Like thousands of Brazilians, Carol Trentini’s mother was the victim of a WhatsApp scam. The criminal posed as the model and convinced his mother to make bank transfers.
“This story still touches my family a lot. Is very sad. I was in a delicate phase of grieving, and they took advantage of it. The criminals are extremely professional, they talked to my mother the same way I talk,” said Carol.
The model claimed that the money lost in the fraud was from the sale of her parents’ house, and that the scam not only caused financial damage, but also psychological trauma. “It was the money of a lifetime from my mother and father. Thank God, today we don’t lack anything, but a lot of people lack food on the table ”, she said.
After the episode, the model and her family became suspicious. To protect herself, she said she never makes a decision without first seeing or hearing the person: “Nothing is so urgent that I can’t wait.”
