In rare appearance, Rihanna appears with giant boots in NY

This week, Rihanna reminded fans that his style knows no bounds. The multi-talented star, who has only been seen in public a few times since giving birth in May, went out in New York on Saturday (13) wearing oversized boots.

While her RZA t-shirt, sunglasses and snakeskin-print bag already made for a casual yet chic outfit, Rihanna took things to the next level with a pair of oversized, slouchy boots that reached to the hem of her denim miniskirt.

The look suggests that the artist is still keeping an eye on runway trends: her oversized footwear looked like it came straight from the Spring-Summer 2023 collection of French fashion house Y/Project, which paraded a pair of similar-looking black denim boots in a denim look from head to toe.

Rihanna isn’t the first celebrity to wear high boots this year (although hers did bring more drama). At the beginning of the month, the singer Dua Lipa paired a menswear-inspired minidress with a pair of white Bottega Veneta boots.

This week, Kim Kardashian posted a snappy video on Instagram of herself at a gym wearing high boots. The star completed her seemingly impractical workout look with a nude-hued bikini and white long-sleeved top while posing in various gym equipment.

Similar styles are also popping up on the runways, with several designers reviving over-the-knee boots as part of bulkier silhouettes.

During the fall-winter 2022 season, Acne Studios’ stately riding boots brought drama to Paris Fashion Week, while Isabel Marant sent a fleet of models down the catwalk in baggy tights (although hers were noticeably thinner than hers). Rihanna).

Once upon a time, Vivienne Westwood created sculptural versions in teal and white, Chanel pushed the boat out with a chunky pair of high-top rain boots, and Vetements created a bold, gender-neutral pair of boots.

It remains to be seen whether Rihanna’s gargantuan take on the trend will go mainstream. After all, there are some things only RiRi can do.
