Western companies have suspended the production of their cars in Russia, but companies from China are ready to take their place. In particular, the Russian representative office of the Chinese auto concern Foton announced plans to legalize the production of Tunland frame pickups and medium-duty trucks of the S series in Russia. This is stated in the materials for the reporting of Foton Motor LLC.

“In order to obtain maximum profit, it is necessary to localize production on the territory of the Russian Federation. To this end, it was decided to conclude a long-term contract for the production of Foton Tunland pickup trucks and Foton S100 and S120 series trucks with a major automaker.”— stated in the explanatory notes to Foton’s reporting.
What kind of large Russian automaker it is is not yet clear, but the source indicates that Foton cabs are now being equipped with the medium-tonnage GAZ Valdai Next. In other words, Foton has well-established ties with the leadership of the Gorky Automobile Plant, and this is a completely logical partner. However, the GAZ press service does not comment on the possibility of localizing Foton models at facilities in Nizhny Novgorod.
