Following a series of meetings whose objective is the rapprochement with the business community, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) has a meeting scheduled with representatives of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) on the 5th of July.
Former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), pre-candidate for vice on PT’s ticket in the presidential race, should also participate in the meeting.
The meeting will be held at the invitation of the president of Fiesp, Josué Gomes, for Lula and Alckmin to present their proposals for the country to the entity’s management. THE CNN found that the agenda has already been made official.
According to Lula’s allies, the Fiesp meeting was an old wish of the former president. The rapprochement with the country’s industrial sector has even been defended by Alckmin.
The assessment in the PT campaign is that the meeting at the entity gains even more importance given the fact that Lula should not participate in the meeting of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) with the presidential candidates on the 29th.
The meeting marks a change in the position of the entity’s command. Josué assumed the presidency of Fiesp in July last year, after 17 years of Paulo Skaf’s administration.
The businessman is the son of former vice president José Alencar, who was at the side of former president Lula in his two terms (between 2003 and 2010).
One of the main hallmarks of Skaf’s management at Fiesp was the campaign “I will not pay the duck”, which culminated in the entity’s adhesion to the campaign for the impeachment of former president Dilma Rousseff (PT).
Skaf also publicly declared support for President Jair Bolsonaro. Josué has often said that Fiesp will not adopt a political direction and that he himself decided to leave the MDB before taking office at the entity.
