In the new beta of Android 13, an animation in the curtain and Clear Calling appeared. What’s this?

Google has released Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 with fixes for bugs found on Pixel devices. Although the update does not contain any notable changes, it does reveal information about future operating system features such as Clear Calling to reduce background noise during calls.

According to Esper’s Mishaal Rahman, Google is working on a new feature called Clear Calling that aims to reduce background noise during calls. It is currently available in Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 but is inactive. Rahman managed to enable the feature manually, but it still didn’t work.

Clear Calling is found in Sound & Vibration settings on Pixel devices. The description states that the feature reduces background noise during calls and works on most cellular networks. However, it is not available during Wi-Fi calls. It is also written that the content of telephone conversations is not sent to the Google servers. This suggests that the feature is likely to use built-in artificial intelligence or machine learning algorithms.

In addition to Clear Calling, the new beta version of Android 13 introduced animations in the quick settings panel. It’s a change that’s been long overdue given the massive overhaul Google started doing back in Android 12. Almost all tiles now have unique click animations. Most of them are very simple, for example, the icon changes to a strikethrough and back, and some are more complex, like the “Power saving mode” icon. Tiles of third-party applications, of course, cannot boast of animations.

It is also worth noting that in Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1, references were found to two unannounced Pixel devices, codenamed Felix and Lynx. In addition, the names Tangorpro and T6Pro were found in the code, which may indicate the existence of a Pro version of the Pixel Tablet.
