Russian President Vladimir Putin, on his third trip abroad since being re-elected to office in March, arrived in Uzbekistan, a former Soviet republic, on Sunday, where he met with his counterpart Shafkat Mirziyoyev, with whom they are expected to hold official talks. According to Russian news agencies, Mr Mirziyoyev met Mr Putin on his arrival in Tashkent and the two heads of state traveled in the same car. Photos and videos released by the Kremlin and broadcast by Russian news agencies show the Russian president visiting the New Uzbekistan Park in Tashkent and laying a wreath at the Uzbekistan Independence Monument.
