Information day of the National Transparency Authority and Superfund for whistleblowing

An information day entitled “The role of the whistleblowing mechanism in tackling the risk of fraud and corruption” was organized on Wednesday, November 3, by the National Transparency Authority and the Superfund.

The meeting was attended by executives from the departments of Human Resources, Regulatory Compliance and Control of all subsidiaries of the Superfund. The aim of the meeting was to inform the executives about the new data and policies on corporate transparency issues, as well as the best international practices.

During his presentation, the Commander of the National Transparency Authority, Mr. Angelos Binis, stressed that ensuring secure and reliable internal and external reporting channels is a structural element for the consolidation of a culture of openness and accountability at the level of each body. It is necessary to encourage and facilitate employees who want to report delinquent behavior.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Superfund, Mr. Grigoris D. Dimitriadis, addressed a greeting, thanking the Governor and the executives of EAD for the partnership and cooperation.

Also speaking were Ms. Alexandra Rogkakou, Head of the Inspection and Audit Unit of EAD, Mr. Nikolaos Bourtzinos, Head of the Complaints Management and Project Monitoring Department, of the Inspection and Audit Unit, Mr. of the Superfund and Mr. Giannis Antoniou, Director of Internal Audit of the Superfund.

During the meeting it was announced the creation of a new whistleblowing system for reporting irregular and inappropriate behavior, which will operate from the beginning of 2022. The new system will make a decisive contribution to the information and prevention of relevant incidents. This is an international practice that includes effective and secure reporting channels for the Superfund and its subsidiaries. The aim is to encourage the employees and associates of the companies to immediately report cases that damage the corporate reputation, having, of course, as a basic principle, the protection of the identity and confidentiality of the data of the persons who make such reports.

The new system is the necessary mechanism, in the context of a new culture of zero tolerance for irregularities or inappropriate behaviors and encourages their treatment through modern approaches.
