The scenes of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul traveled the planet and moved leaders of countries around the world. Several nations have already announced sending aid and donations to the Brazilian state.

Last week, the CNN reported that Israel announced the donation of water purifiers. Japan also offered humanitarian aid, donating camping tents, mattresses, blankets, portable jerry cans, plastic tarps and water purifiers.

The United Kingdom also donated medical and emergency items to the Brazilian state. The British also expressed interest in talking to Itamaraty about future bilateral actions in comprehensive risk and disaster management, according to the ministry.

In Latin America, Mercosur is joining efforts to help Brazil in the situation. The Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities for Risk and Disaster Management of Mercosur is in contact with the National Secretary for Civil Protection and Defense of the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development.

Since May 5th, working groups dedicated to hydrometeorological services and early warnings within the South American economic bloc have remained active. There was a continuous dialogue between technicians and experts from member countries, also addressing the impacts of floods in the regions of Argentina and Uruguay.

Uruguay, a country that borders the state, has already announced the availability of helicopters to assist in rescues. Argentina, another neighboring country of Rio Grande do Sul, will send water purifying tablets.

The North American NGO Samaritan's Purse also collaborated, with 10 water purification stations with a capacity of 400 thousand liters per hour, and other emergency items.
