Internet, 7 tricks (some little known) to speed up the connection

The internet connection at home is increasingly crowded: between smartphones and computers, tablets and smart speakers, it is not so difficult to quickly saturate the wireless network band and experience slowdowns while browsing. In fact, it often happens to watch a streaming movie that crashes frequently – especially if in high definition -, wait for endless backups to cloud spaces to be completed or make a video call with annoying delays and grainy images.

In addition, the global emergency would have contributed further to occupying domestic networks: in fact, according to research by theOsservatorio Smart Working of the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano, in 2020 the Italian workers employed from home would have been 10 times more – over 6.58 million – compared to the previous year to which all the students employed with distance learning must be added.

But what measures should be taken to improve the network when there are several devices connected at the same time? On the subject is Ofcom.org.uk – the UK regulatory authority for communications companies – to provide some tips for optimizing internet performance. And although the advice to disable wireless connectivity of unused devices or connect the computer to the modem using an ethernet cable may seem fairly obvious indications, probably tidy up the tangled threads e move the modem away from some appliances there might be some solutions to test.
