Introduced the first electric Subaru: a range of 530 km and charging up to 80% in 30 minutes

Subaru has unveiled its first electric car, called the Solterra. It was introduced to the Japanese market and an American launch is scheduled for next week.

This is the brand’s first production electric car, which is similar to the previously announced Toyota BZ4X with minor design changes. The car received a large touchscreen multimedia and entertainment system, and the interior is made in orange colors.

Subaru Solterra is equipped with a 71.4 Wh battery, one or two electric motors (in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, respectively). The front-wheel drive version travels without recharging up to 530 km, and the range of the all-wheel drive crossover is about 450 km.

Solterra supports fast charging at 150kW of power, which allows the electric vehicle to be charged from 0 to 80% in about 30 minutes. It also features a heat pump to reduce loss of range in cold weather and when heated seats or steering wheel are used.

Solterra also offers a glass panoramic sunroof or metal roof with integrated solar panels, wheels up to 20 inches and adaptive LED headlights. Features include support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Subaru’s first fully automated parking assistance, and support for a smartphone as a key.
