The Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) slowed down to 0.57% in August, after falling 1.19% in the previous month, the Brazilian Institute of Economics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (Ibre-FGV) reported this Thursday. -fair.
As a result, the index started to accumulate an advance of 6.62% in the 12 months through August, from an increase of 8% in July.
FGV data show that, in the month, the Education, Reading and Recreation group increased by 0.46%, leaving behind the sharp drop of 4.06% seen in July. In this expense category, the highlight was airfare, which rose 2.07% in August.
The Transport group recorded a slowdown from the low to 3.56% last month, from 4.81% before. Similarly, Housing prices moderated their decline to 0.09% in August, from a 0.70% decline in July. FGV highlighted the slowdown in the declines in gasoline and residential electricity tariffs in the period.
On the other hand, there was relief in the Food group in August, as its rise slowed to 0.07%, from 1.34% in the previous month.
