IR Reform Rapporteur in the Senate says the text will be filed

The rapporteur of the Income Tax reform proposal in the Senate, Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA), said this Friday (3) that he will shelve the text, and that a new project with more content is needed.

“(The project) will not only be archived. It has to be extinguished in order for a new project to be born, with more base, content, well debated and that pleases at least the vast majority of Brazilians”, he said at an event organized by the São Paulo Trade Association.

“You cannot approve a piece of this nature, as it was in the Chamber, with total speed and with a very high quorum. It means that probably 90% of those who approved in the Chamber should know no chapter, no article, no line of this project”, he said at an event organized by the São Paulo Trade Association.

The senator had already said that the reform is “one of the most horrible pieces that have ever been processed in the National Congress”, and according to him, it displeases companies, liberal professionals, states, municipalities and economists.

At an event with companies in the accounting sector held in Rio Grande do Sul, last month, Coronel even said that he intended to present a parallel project, aimed at increasing the exemption range for individuals.
