Iran: Mahan Air claims to have been hit by a cyber attack

Mahan Air, Iran’s main private airline, announced today that it had come under cyber attack, but all its flights were operating normally, even though its website was not accessible around noon.

“Mahan Air’s information system has been attacked again,” the company said in a statement. “All flights continue according to schedule,” he explained.

The company said it had already received many such cyber-attacks “because of its important role in the country’s aviation industry”.

“The security team is currently repelling the cyber-attack,” company spokesman Amir Hossein Zolanwari told state television.

According to the Mehr news agency, passengers received a message on their mobile phones stating that there was a “cyber attack on Mahan for its complicity in the crimes of the terrorist body of the Guards” of the Iranian Revolution.

Mahan Air was founded 30 years ago and is the largest airline in the country, with public Iran Air. It has been sanctioned by the United States since 2011. It serves destinations in Europe and Asia, in addition to domestic flights.

On October 26, a cyber-attack paralyzed Iran’s fuel distribution system for a week, causing traffic jams on Tehran’s main roads and long queues at gas stations.
