Iran: Prepares countermeasures in case the EU recognizes the “Revolutionary Guards” as a terrorist organization

Iran is preparing countermeasures in case the European Union decides to blacklist the Revolutionary Guards, as the European Parliament wants, the head of Iranian diplomacy warned today.

Iran’s parliament is considering the conditions to “include entities of the armed forces of European countries in the list of terrorist organizations,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced on Twitter.

Tehran has multiplied warnings to Europeans after MEPs adopted a resolution on Thursday calling on the EU to include the Revolutionary Guards, the Islamic Republic’s ideological army, on its list of terrorist organizations.

Asked about other measures that Tehran could take, the minister replied that the possible withdrawal of his country from the treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons (NPT) and the expulsion of the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are not excluded. ) from the Iranian nuclear facilities.

“If European political leaders (…) do not follow the path of reason and correct their positions, all options are on the table,” the Iranian foreign minister said, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
