Is Prince Pavlos of Greece looking for a home in Athens?

It’s a time of great change for the Crown Prince Pavlos of Greecewho takes over the country’s defunct royal house following the death of his father, the former King Constantine II, at the age of 82.

The 55-year-old – who with his wife, the timeless princess Marie-Chantalhas five children, including the charming princess Olympia – yesterday he led the faithful to his father’s funeral in Athens, which was attended by royals from all over the world, including the princess Annathe King Felipe VI and the Queen Joy of Spainthe Rand Willem-Alexander and the queen Maxima of the Netherlands. Given the interconnected nature of royal families, many of the monarchs in attendance said their last goodbyes to a relative and friend.

While mourning the loss of his father, who died last week in a private hospital in Athens, Crown Prince Pavlos is also looking to his future. In particular, he would be considering the possibility of moving to Athens.

The prince a house in London, but his permanent residence is in New York. “He is already trying to find a residence in Athens and in the coming months he will settle permanently in the capital,” Greek TV presenter Giorgios Liagas told the TV show Ant1 Breakfast.

The charming Greek family previously lived in an 18th-century mansion in London and maintain a close relationship with Britain and the capital (which is also where Marie-Chantal was born). They also lived in a 1913 row house at an upscale address by manhattanwhich belonged to Marie-Chantal’s parents: Robert Miller, the founder of the DFS Duty Free chain, and his Ecuadorian wife, María Clara «Chantal» Pesantes Becerra.

Along with her sisters – Pia, former wife of Christopher Getty, and Alexandra, former wife of Prince Alexander von Fürstenberg – Marie-Chantal was the town’s flagship in the 1980s and 1990s, before finding love with the handsome crown prince, eldest son and second son of the former king of Greece.

Pavlos and Marie-Chantal shared happy memories on the sprawling period property with their five children, Princess Maria-Olympia, Prince Constantine Alexios, Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odysseas Kimon and Prince Aristidis-Stavros, who they lead a jet-set life befitting their role as next-generation European royalty.

It remains to be seen whether Pavlos and Marie-Chantal will settle down in Greece and, if so, where they will choose to put down roots.

For now, the focus will be on mourning the loss of the family patriarch.
