Israel requests emergency UN Security Council meeting after Iran attack

Israel requested this Saturday (13) that the United Nations Security Council hold an emergency meeting to condemn Iran's attack and that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard be designated as a terrorist organization.

The UN Security Council is scheduled to meet tomorrow at 5pm, Brasília time.

“The Iranian attack is a serious threat to global peace and security and I hope that the Council will use all means to take concrete measures against Iran,” wrote Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) .

Iran launched more than 200 drones and missiles against Israeli territory.

Iran's retaliation was already predicted by Israeli authorities, after the Islamic Republic accused Israel of carrying out an attack on the country's diplomatic representation in Syria last week, amid the intensification of tensions between the two countries in recent months.

“The malicious Zionist regime will be punished,” said Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a social media post this Saturday.
