A man is dead in Israel who was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier who passed him for “Palestinian terrorist”. “His behavior was considered suspicious”police said without identifying the victim.
According to local media and as reported by the Athens News Agency the dead man is a man in his 40s, whom the soldier “mistaken for a Palestinian terrorist”.
The soldier was at a bus stop in Ra’anana, in central Israel. “He felt threatened when a citizen approached him in a suspicious manner, which he initially interpreted as an attempted robbery,” police said in a statement.
Two other people were slightly wounded by the soldier’s gunfire and taken to Meir Hospital in the neighboring city of Kfar Saba, police added, stressing that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
The military did not comment on the reports and it is not known if the soldier has been arrested
