At least two people were killed and 15 injured after Israeli warplanes struck a building in Beirut’s southern suburbs known as Dahiyeh on Thursday afternoon (26), the Lebanese Health Ministry said.
One of the injured is a woman in critical condition. According to the Israeli military, Muhammad Hussein Srour, a Hezbollah commander who is believed to be the head of the group’s Air Command, was killed in the offensive.
THE CNN geolocated the location of the attack as Haret Hreik in Dahiyeh, a densely populated area with a strong Hezbollah presence.
Israel has been launching dozens of airstrikes on areas of Lebanon as the conflict with Hezbollah intensifies.
The Israeli army has vowed to accelerate its “offensive operations” against the Lebanese group without respite. Troops carried out exercises simulating ground combat in Lebanon on Wednesday (25), an offensive that the army has not ruled out.
Thousands of people in Lebanon have been forced to flee their homes amid intense attacks.
