Italy: 5 more cases of the Omicron mutation

According to the official data of the Italian authorities, five other citizens of the country tested positive for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. In total, there are nine incidents so far.

They are three children, a teacher and a domestic helper, who live in Caserta, outside Naples.

According to Italian media, they were infected by the two children of the manager who returned from Mozambique two weeks ago and who is considered the “zero patient” of this variant in Italy. However, everyone has mild symptoms and their condition is not a cause for concern.

At the same time, the Italian Ministry of Education has decided that, from now on, as soon as a case of coronavirus is recorded in a classroom, all students will return home, to distance learning, for at least ten days. Until now, activating distance learning required at least three positive cases in each class.

The Italian special commissioner for the pandemic, General Francesco Filiuolo, announced that the new goal for December is to be able to administer at least 400,000 vaccines against Covid-19 every day.

From today, except for the region of Rome, finally, that of Milan begins the administration of the booster dose of the vaccine to all citizens over 18 years of age.
