Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi met this morning with Italian President Sergio Matarella. According to the press, the subject of the meeting was the course of the Italian multi-party government and the tension that arose in the last hours with the Five Star Movement.
Later, it is possible that Mario Draghi will meet with the leader of the “five stars” Giuseppe Conte, in an effort to bridge the differences and to continue the work of the government.
It is recalled that this tension is due to statements by the Italian sociologist Domenico De Mazi, based on which Mario Draghi allegedly asked the founder of the Five Star Movement Bebe Grillo to remove Giuseppe Conte from the leadership of the movement. Aides to the Italian technocratic prime minister have denied that such an intervention ever took place, but Conte spoke of a “very serious incident” on Wednesday.
