The main goal of the Italian health authorities at this stage is to be able to vaccinate two million citizens within a month.
This was announced by General Francesco Filiuolo, a special commissioner for dealing with the pandemic. Vaccination centers across the country in the coming weeks will be open 24 hours a day in order to favor the attendance of citizens.
By tonight, at the same time, all the new restrictive measures adopted by the government of Mario Draghi are expected to be published in the Italian Government Gazette.
According to new information, retirees and unemployed people over the age of 50 will be given until February 1st to be able to get at least the first dose of the vaccine. Many commentators, however, are skeptical about the fine that will be imposed on those who do not comply: it is a hundred euros, once. Well-known virology professor Roberto Bourioni stressed that “this amount is equivalent to two fines for illegal parking” and did not hide that he “hoped for a more serious approach to the whole problem by the government”.
At the same time, employees over the age of 50 will have until February 15 to be able to obtain the “super green vaccinated pass”. In this case, anyone who tries to go to work without being vaccinated will be fined up to 1,500 euros.
